As we age, we begin to lose volume in parts of our faces. This can lead us to look older, more tired, and generally feel less confident in our facial appearance. The RHA Collection is the latest development in facial filler technology. The fillers come in four different versions, each designed to target a different depth and area of the face. Dr. Levin is able to use these fillers to help fill in lines and wrinkles or add volume back to areas of the face that may have lost it.

What Makes RHA Collection Different From Other Fillers?

Most fillers are created with hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body. Native hyaluronic acid is metabolized and degraded in about 48 hours, so a modification is needed to make the injectable form longer-lasting. The acid is made up of chains crosslinked with proteins to make it more stable and prolong longevity. The difference between RHA and some other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers is the fewer chemical modifications and crosslinking in longer chains of HA.

Therefore, the RHA product most closely resembles native products in our body for flexibility in usage while providing natural results and longevity. Because RHA is most similar to the native hyaluronic acid present in our skin and adapts so well to our tissue, it allows for the greatest flexibility. This makes this filler look natural at rest and with facial movements, which is what we want: to see results, not the product.

Where Did RHA Fillers Originate?

The RHA Collection was developed by TEOXANE Laboratories in Geneva, Switzerland. While the RHA collection of fillers is new to the United States, it has been used in other countries for over five years. It is currently in use in over 90 countries and is FDA-approved.

How Long Do RHA Fillers Last?

The average longevity of RHA fillers is about 15 months. As with other fillers, the duration depends on the area treated, sorter with areas with high movement, longer in static ones.

Will I Be Swollen After My Treatment?

One of the most significant differences between these fillers and those already on the market is the swelling. Typically, fillers can leave you swollen for days, and sometimes weeks, after treatment. The RHA Collection leaves patients with little to no swelling after their treatment due to the nature of the product’s chemical makeup.

What Areas Can RHA Be Used to Treat?

There are four product variations, with three available in the US today. RHA 2 is used to treat lips, the eyelid area, and superficial lines and wrinkles. RHA 3 is used for deeper nasolabial folds and marionette lines, as well as cheeks. RHA 4 is used for cheeks, the chin, jawline, and temples. The products can be used across the face, including the nasolabial folds, the under eyes, and more.
